Antenatal Clinic (WTK)
How to get there
The Antenatal Clinic at Waitākere Hospital is held in one of two locations:
Inside the main hospital building, just behind the Maternity Reception, or
At Aratika, which you can reach by:
Exiting through the Maternity Entrance
Crossing at the pedestrian crossing
Continuing past the electric fleet carpark to the next building

Before you arrive
Look up the patients before you arrive using Clinical Portal and Badgernet.
Write down the following information. Maternal Age, GxPx, Gestation, Background including previous mode of deliveries, BMI, Medical conditions, Reason for Referral, Last USS (date/gestation/placental location/presentation/EFW+/-dopplers, liquor volume), Recent blood results (Hb, Ferritin, Blood Group, GTT/HbA1c, etc)
Write a Problem List and any Investigations or management possibilities

Make sure you arrive early, before the clinic starts
Ensure you have a paper measuring tape (they are in each clinic room)
When you arrive
Introduce yourself to the reception staff, say you are here to sit in with the doctor. Ask where you should wait.
When the doctor arrives, introduce yourself. Say that you have looked up the cases.
What you might be able to do from the logbook
Conduct an antenatal history and exam
Examination of a pregnant abdomen
Assessment of clinical conditions eg SGA, Pregnancy with a pre-existing medical condition (See Page 6-7)

Order an USS
Discuss postpartum contraception options
Sit in with the Vaccination Nurse
Perform an USS for fetal presentation
Review a CTG
